Tribute to My Mamma

Hey Guys! I just wanted to take a few minutes and talk about a very special lady in my life...

No, I am not talking about Rana (my girlfriend), I am talking about my mamma!

I have been meaning to write something like this for a while now, but I have not found the right occasion up until now. So here goes...

I am 100% a self proclaimed "Mamma's Boy." Always have been always will be. The reason why?

I simply have the greatest mom in the world! (like seriously, you can try to argue with me if you want... but I am right on this one)

Rather than sitting down writing a big long article for you to read about my mamma, I am just going to give you a list of a few of the things that I love about her...

1.) I love her un-wavering integrity in every situation.

If she tells you she is going to do something, she will do it - no matter how hard that is for her. There have been many times in the last year where she could have been out on a date, or having fun with friends, but she chose to go and take care of her parents instead because she gave them her word that she would be there for them.

2.) I love that she always tried so hard to make Christmas special for me growing up... Even when money was not readily available. (Not to mention Easter, Birthdays, etc)

We did not have a lot of money when I was a kid, but somehow my mother always came through and managed to surprise me by making Christmas special for me. The example that most often comes to mind was a year when I know that my parents did not have very much money at all, but mom saved and sacrificed all year that year and bought me my first camera. (A Canon Digital Rebel XT) I would say that gift has made a pretty big impact on my life, wouldn't you?  :P

3.) I love it that she would do anything for anyone, and that she LOVES helping others.

Just last week, she took a house cleaning job for one of her sisters that was going through a rough time. She spent close to 8 hours cleaning a house one night after work, and she didn't even expect to be payed for it. In fact, she gave the money right back to the sister that was having a rough time. This do anything for anyone kind spirit that she has is one of the things that I like most about her.

4.) I love it that she kept me in church growing up, and made every effort to make sure that I had a close relationship with God.

The fact that my mother was so stubborn about keeping me in church as a teenager (even when I hated it) has done more to shape me into the man that I am today than anything else in my life! I literally am who I am today because my mom did not give up on me, and was persistant about keeping me in church. I know this wasn't easy for her, because my dad was an Atheist, and I gave her all kids of crap about it almost every week!

5.) How she encouraged me in everything that I did, and made me believe that anything was possible.

My mom is not an artist, but she always encouraged me in music and in photography. My mom does not have an entrepreneurial bone in her body, but she inspires me to this day to reach for the stars. My mom hates to travel, but she loves asking me about my trips around the country. I love it that my mom is able to look beyond her self and her own interests and be excited for things that are exciting for others.

~

Someone once told my mother that she had a "Sweet Spirit," and to this day I believe that there is nothing to describe her better than that. She is still known to most of my friends simply as "Mamma" because she is sweet and caring to everyone that she meets.

So to end - Mom - thank you for everything. You mean more to me than I could ever put in to words and I can never say thank you enough for the huge investments that you have made in my life, and continue to make on a regular basis.

 I love you.

29.

Just a little reminder that mother's day comes early this year - Sunday, May 8th.

Do something special for your mom this year. She deserves it.

  1. You are indeed very lucky Brandon but from the sound of it so is your mamma. My mother is no longer here so enjoy every moment you have. What you said was beautiful and a wonderful thing for a son to say to his mother...that shows what kind of mother she truely is. You are very blessed and so is she.
